Dog Friendly Cottages and Accommodation Lake District, Grasmere

Dog Friendly Accommodation

We know that dogs love the Lake District as much their humans, if not more! So why let them miss out on your Cumbrian getaway? Our dog friendly accommodation including hotel rooms and cottages mean that your pooch can join you on your adventures.

We supply dog towels and poo bags. Your waggy-tailed family member will even get a bag of locally made, natural doggy treats as a welcome gift.

Whether you are taking them on fell walks up some of the local Wainwrights, appointing them captain on a paddleboard trip, or taking them to dog-friendly spots like Allan Bank, you know that you’ll be able to come back to The Yan at Broadrayne and your four-legged friend can rest their weary paws before another day of tail wagging and treat begging.

Read on for more details about your dog friendly stays.

Please find our pet terms and conditions here, which we advise reading before booking our dog friendly Lake District hotel rooms and cottage accommodation.

Where Can Dogs Stay?

We’ve got a mix of dog-friendly options, so you can choose the best spot for you.

Two of our bistro bedrooms are dog friendly, both our Pet-Friendly Deluxe Room and Pet-Friendly Standard Room welcome one dog each.

Self-Catering Cottages:

  • The Fold – One small dog only (we’re talking tiny paws, not ‘he thinks he’s small’).

  • The Smithy – One dog (big or small, we’re not picky).

  • The Cottage & The Farmhouse – Up to two dogs allowed, so double the fun (and possibly the chaos).

Dogs stay for £20 per dog, per stay, which covers all the extra belly rubs and tail wags they’ll receive.

What’s Included?

We don’t just tolerate dogs—we actually like them. That’s why we’ve got a few extra touches to make their stay as good as yours:

Dog towels, because we all know they’ll find a puddle.

Wash station aka the hosepipe, there are 3 dotted around the farm, spray away.

Poo bags, to be disposed of properly - no poo bag baubles please.

A welcome treat , locally made and 100% dog-approved.

A Few House Rules

We’re pretty laid back, but we do have a couple of requests to keep everyone happy:

No unattended dogs – Please don’t leave your pup alone on the farm while you go out adventuring or elsewhere for the evening.

Leads required in public areas – We love dogs, but our sheep and chickens don’t. Plus, not every guest is a fan of an unexpected nose in their breakfast.

No dogs in vehicles overnight – If they’re coming with you, they’re staying in with you.

We also don’t allow dangerous breeds as defined by UK regulations (check the list before booking if you’re unsure).

Where Can You Walk?

Sadly, our fields are full of sheep, so dog-walking in them isn’t allowed. But the good news? We’re right next to the Coast to Coast Path, which means free roaming and plenty of water to splash in just a stone’s throw away. Other great local walks can be found on our Fell Walks page. The Lake District is a very dog friendly part of the world, just do your part as a responsible dog owner by using your leads, being aware of livestock and cleaning up after your dog. Remember... leave no trace.
