We're big on celebrating with gifts that not only warm the heart but are gentle on the planet too and, linking back to our last chat supporting small local businesses, you might notice we're on a bit of a theme here...
From bread to flowers, here are our top ideas to give your gift the personal touch.
Mum, you're the best! When it comes to the ultimate satisfaction, few things can compare to the delightful combination of freshly baked bread and a generous serving of homemade butter, I'm sure you will agree!
With that in mind, now is the perfect time to introduce you to our Gee's exceptional bread-making skills, which have garnered her quite a reputation among guests from her previous positions. With many guests in fact, bartering to try and get their hands on her coveted bread recipe. Fortunately for all bread enthusiasts out there, Gee has graciously decided to share her secrets on how to create the perfect Ciabatta that will leave you craving for more. So, without further ado, let's dive into her tried-and-true method! 👩🍳
What says love more than a homemade baked good? Our very own Sam, master of tasty treats, has a suggestion that's sure to make your mum's day extra sweet.
After completing his patisserie course, Sam has become a maestro in fancy treats and he's taken the time to whip up a delicious recipe that's easy to follow and guarantees a cake bursting with flavour!
With all things seasonal in mind, you can see why he is Wills right hand man, see HERE for Sam's how to guide to create a mouthwatering Rhubarb steam pud with vanilla custard, gingerbread biscuit, candied pistachio with rhubarb syrup.
From carefully selecting the finest ingredients to adding that extra dash of sweetness, this cake is a labour of love from start to finish, bound to be a winner with the mums! 🥰
Not booze? No problem!
Why not make a fruity cordial perfect to pair with a sparkling water! We call it the 'Mumosa', perfect to avoid a heavy head when having to get up with those little monsters 5 times during the night. Quick, easy and simple to do and bound to be a winner. Cheers to you Mum!
Dear Food Lovers,
Happy February! With Valentine's Day just around the corner, we're not here to serenade you with tales of romance and roses.
After the incredible news that Cumbria is now home to 15 Michelin stars, 5 of those within a 20 minute drive from us, its incredible to be part of a county where food and produce sits at the heart.
This valentines day, we're inviting you to join us in a celebration of a different kind of love - a love for the fantastic local produce, artisan bakeries, family run butchers and mouth-watering treats that our beautiful Lake District has to offer.
Love Local! After a delightful couple of weeks to unwind from the festive frenzy, we’re back in action! From Oscars first ski lessons, Gee and Pete creating their forever home on the farm, Dave and Sal overseeing The Cottage renovations and our fabulous team flying off on their winter warming hols, to say we've had a corker of a January, well you would be right, but more of that to come...

Family Fun!
Looking for a fun few hours, something the whole family can enjoy? Something a little different maybe...
The Low Wood Bay Watersports Centre has an enviable position on the Windermere lakeshore, overlooking the Langdale pikes. The centre offers a broad range of watersports boat & equipment hire and watersport activity instruction on the lake. Set against the backdrop of the Lakeland fells it is a great location for getting out on the water.
Undoubtedly alluring, deservedly popular, easily accessible (just off the M6) yet also – unsurprisingly – not the cheapest of destinations, the Lake District is the UK's most visited National Park. It contains some of the country’s most ravishing and soul-stirring landscapes: craggy fells, glistening lakes and timeless whitewashed villages. In recent years, many of its traditional inns have become gastropubs, B&Bs have gone ‘boutique’, and country house hotels have blossomed spas and Michelin-starred dining. So, how to find a wallet-friendly place to stay that isn’t a charmless shoebox with a dried-up breakfast offering?
